Privacy fence installation — no gaps, no lean, no sightlines
Cedar, pine and vinyl privacy fencing built to stand straight through coastal wind and clay soil movement.
Privacy Fence Installation across the Galveston Bay area
A privacy fence has one job, and it is the one most fences fail at within five years: staying solid and staying closed. Gaps open as pickets dry and shrink. Posts lean as clay soil swells and contracts. On this coast, wind loads finish what the soil starts. Standard Fence builds privacy fencing for San Leon, League City, Friendswood, Seabrook, Dickinson, Texas City, Kemah and Houston with galvanized steel posts set in concrete, spacing that accounts for how the wood will move, and hardware sized for the wind rather than for the catalogue photo. Board-on-board, shadowbox, horizontal and vinyl, at 6 ft or 8 ft where the city allows it.
Privacy fence styles we build
The style decides how private it stays as the wood moves. That is worth two minutes of your time before you pick on looks alone.
Board-on-board cedar
Overlapping pickets, so when the cedar dries and shrinks the overlap absorbs it and no daylight appears. The most private option, and the one we build most on this coast.
Shadowbox (good neighbor)
Alternating pickets either side of the rail. Looks finished from both sides and lets wind pass through, which reduces load on the posts — a real advantage in exposed lots.
Horizontal cedar
Clean, modern lines. Needs a stiffer post schedule and careful board selection because horizontal boards show any sag, so it is built differently rather than just turned sideways.
Vinyl (PVC) privacy
Tongue-and-groove panels that never need staining and do not gray. Higher upfront, near-zero upkeep, and popular with HOAs for exactly that reason.
Pressure-treated pine privacy
The value option. Same build standards as cedar, lower material cost, and it wants sealing on a schedule to keep it from warping.
Rot board, cap and trim
A treated base board keeps the pickets out of the splash zone; cap and trim sheds water off the picket ends. Both add years for a few dollars a foot.
Why our privacy fences stay private
Galvanized steel posts
Wood posts rot at the ground line and lean. Steel does not, and it is the single biggest difference in how a fence looks at year eight.
Built for clay and salt air
Post depth matched to soil and exposure, concrete bell or over-pour where the site needs it.
Wind-rated hardware
Hinges and latches sized for gate weight and gust load, not for looks.
HOA and height rules handled
Houston caps front-yard fences near 4 ft and allows 8 ft in back away from a street. League City requires 70% open near some intersections. We check before we order.
