Standard Fence were absolute professionals. We hired them to completely redo two sides of our backyard due to storm/wind damage, which entailed removal of old broken posts. Do I need a French drain?
Not always. Sometimes the fix is regrading or a downspout extension, and we will say so. A drain earns its place when water is standing after rain, pooling against a slab or fence line, or the lot is too flat to shed on its own. That describes a lot of ground around the bay.
Where does the water from a French drain go?
To a pop-up emitter in a landscape bed or swale, to daylight at a low point, or to the curb where the city allows it. The discharge point is part of the design, not an afterthought.
Will installing a French drain wreck my lawn?
The trench is narrow and we restore it: backfill to spec, sod or river rock replaced, and the grade fine-tuned. It is visible for a season and then it is not.
