Most fences do not fail all at once. A couple of posts start to lean, a gate stops latching, a section goes after a storm. Then the question is whether to patch it or replace the run. We will give you a straight answer on that, including when the answer is "leave it another season". Leaning and shifted posts
The most common call we get. Clay soil movement and wind work a wood post loose at the ground line. We reset or replace on steel, which is what stops it recurring.
Storm and wind damage
Blown-down sections, snapped rails, panels torn off. We can usually get a yard secure quickly and do the full repair on schedule.
Rot, insects and ground contact
Rotted pickets and rails replaced, and a rot board added at the base so the new wood is not sitting in the same splash zone that killed the old.
Gates that sag or will not latch
Usually a hinge or post problem rather than a gate problem. We rehang on hardware sized for the weight, and adjust or replace the latch.
Chain link and iron repairs
Stretched or torn mesh, bent top rail, damaged posts, rusted ornamental iron. We repair and recoat rather than replace where that makes sense.
Section replacement
When one run is gone but the rest is sound, we rebuild the run and match the existing line so it does not look patched.

They did a great job, the crew came out and was able to navigate the plethora of underground cables, after calling 811, and install a new wooden fence that looked amazing after the hurricane blew through knocking down my fence in Chase Park.
Standard Fence were absolute professionals. We hired them to completely redo two sides of our backyard due to storm/wind damage, which entailed removal of old broken posts. They answered all questions we had, were timely, kind, and left the work site clean each day. They charge reasonable rates and they cleared out the old fence by putting it out at the curb for heavy trash day.

Should I repair my fence or replace it?
Rule of thumb: if more than about a third of the posts are failing, replacement is usually the better spend, because you will be back for the rest within a couple of seasons. If it is isolated posts, pickets or one blown-down run, repair it. We will tell you which one you are looking at, and we will tell you if the answer is to wait.
Can you repair just one section?
Yes, and we match the existing line and picket style so it does not read as a patch. Newer wood will be lighter until it weathers in. Staining the whole run evens that out if it bothers you.
Why does my fence lean after every storm?
Almost always wood posts and clay soil. The post rots at the ground line where it stays wet, and the soil around it swells and shrinks with the weather until the post has room to move. Resetting on galvanized steel with proper footing depth is what actually ends it.
Do you handle insurance work for storm damage?
We provide written, itemized estimates and photos of the damage, which is what most carriers ask for. We do not file the claim for you.
